Research Interests

I am interested in interrogating constructions of transition in South Africa and the negotiation and performance of identities within our changing context. Some of the thematic avenues that I am particularly interested in include: Processes of memorialisation Constructions of trauma Constructions and experiences of HIV/AIDS and gender-based violence Constructions of 'the new nation' Issues of women's identities-in-transition 'Urban culture' as related to issues and images of identity in young, black urban-based women Some keywords that frame my research interests: Critical/Feminist/Discourse/Narrative/African feminism
